Super, Quick Tips For A Younger Look

Lines and grey hair are not the only signs that show your age. Oh, no! There are a lot more subtle indicators that old age is quickly catching up with you. If you're not into broadcasting your age and want to make the best possible use of your good looks, follow some simple rules and youth could be yours for the taking right up to the day you retire (and beyond).

Super, quick tips for a younger look

I've picked the following points because I wanted to stress the fact that if you were shown a picture of only that part of a woman (and nowhere else) her age could be accurately guessed. Addressing these indicators will therefore, soothe the edges of advancing years. Let's go!

The state of your teeth can make you look younger
Not many people tend to the appearance of their teeth in their fight against premature ageing. Smoking, drinking too much coffee, tea, and red wine all contribute to discolouration. If you can't afford to whiten them professionally, cut down or cut out smoking and the above guilty beverages and/or purchase a self-help teeth whitening kit. They take ages to do, but they work if you stick with them. Bright sparkling teeth spells youth and vibrancy! If you were shown picture cards of (only) a woman's teeth, could you pick out the younger women from the older ones?

The way you apply make-up can make you look younger
Too much make-up or foundation on ageing skin have the opposite desired effect. Make-up seeps into pores and deep lines around the lips, causing a sort of rippling effect - not good at all. Keep all make-up light and natural, and abandon the abused-eyebrow look. Regrow your eyebrows and pluck minimally, just to keep them in good order. Thinly plucked brows make older women look like surprised sheep going to the slaughter. Fuller brows are certainly in as they give an indication of youthfulness (just like you wore them in your teens).

Great posture makes you look younger
Rounded shoulders don't look out-of-place on an elderly woman. Leave this sort of posture for when you become that woman. For now, hold yourself high, buy a yoga DVD if you can't afford to attend classes, and practise holding yourself sprightly and alert. Upward and forward! Keep those shoulders back and you can look much younger than you are!

Older women watch the shoes!
We start wearing 'sensible' shoes when we have kids. Of course, they're more practical and allow you run around easily after the kids when out and about. When the kids start growing up and need less running after, go back to the old loves (shoes). If you were in a dressing room of a department store and saw only the shoes of the woman in the adjoining cubicle, could you guess her age? I bet you could!

Exercise for a younger look
This one makes you say, 'ahhh' less when you bend down or bend over. It also helps you get off your chair without moaning, climb the stairs without labouring on the bannisters, and get out of your car without going, 'ooohhh'. All of the above make you sound really old. Exercise keeps the joints and muscles strong, limber and youthful.

Pimp your thought patterns to look and feel younger
Looking young starts with feeling young. If you feel old, you dress old, act old and become old before your time. Teach yourself to think young. Listen to music teenagers enjoy. You may find you actually like them. Besides, this will give you something to talk about with your teenage kids. Of course, there is a limit to how far you can go before you become an embarrassing 'mutton-dressed-as-lamb' cliché.  You have to hit the balance just right. If you forget things remember that teenagers forget a lot more than you do (a lot more). You're doing very well, actually. You remember to do your hair, work, look after the family, get the shopping, do the washing etc, and still have some brain cells to remember to buy your spouse's anniversary card.

The article I have been waiting to read, I so agree with you about the last one! Think young, we better, or we might as well be like me...haha. Ever since I start trying to "look my age" I dressed like an old lady, feel like an old lady and look like one! uggh, just can't win, finding the happy medium is my goal. :-)

i like the last tip the best, because i
believe that if we think young, we act
and look younger.

it drives me crazy when people say, "oh,
i'm so old or so tired or so . . . " my 90
year old grandmother took me to israel
and giggled the entire time.

i guarantee no one ever thought SHE
was old!
